BABBLE – December 2017 Public Meeting Notes
Our Dec 14th, 2017 meeting was held at Perfect Brewing Supply, Libertyville (perfectbrewsupply.com). Thanks to Andy & Ryan for their continued support. With the Winter & Holiday season, the homebrews and commercial beers that were shared ran to the heavy and flavored/spice variety, some very special beers. And a variety of edibles as well. Among the homebrews:
An Oktoberfest, a Doppelbock, a Dark Brown Ale smoked over Oak & Maple leaves with marshmallow (of course!), Session Rye, Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout, English Nut Brown, a Belgian Pale, a Chocolate Rye Stout w/Black Pepper (I think that was in the Choc Rye, might have been a separate beer, my notes are fuzzy there), Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, a Gruit and a Raisin Mead. And a Summer Blonde snuck in there as well. OK, adding “and a Partridge in a Pear Tree” is too obvious, but I’m doing it anyway!
In the edible department – some crazy sounding but crazy delicious Chocolate/Bacon/smoked beer reduction cookies, home made caramels, home made bread, a spiced beer infused cake, chocolate/beer/DME cupcakes. Quite an impressive assortment of drink and food, and a great holiday theme to it all.
12 members in attendance, with 1 guest,

Milwaukee Bus Tour – Sat – Jan 20th – Mike H is coordinating this tour. Tentatively, ~ $40~$50 each for the bus, assuming we get ~ 20 people interested. Will likely leave ~ 11AM, with a stop for dinner, and plan to leave ~ 10:30 PM, and back ~ 11:30. Follow the forums for details, and let Mike know if you are in.
Winter Dinner – February? Details TBD.
Future Bulk Honey Buy – Our supplier from Colorado says she can probably reserve some very special varieties and deliver them for Great Taste – so start thinking about types and amounts (and no, Tupelo Honey is not available – that is contracted out and all bought up).
Water Test Kit – The club has purchased a water test kit and pH meter, so members can have their water tested (which may vary throughout the year, depending o source) for a nominal fee ($5).
Club Jockey Box – Bill W has it all ship-shape, with longer tubing to control the flow/foaming issues we had.
Brew-Off 2018 – Mike Marr will host us at Buffalo Creek Brewing, Saturday, March 3rd, and we will have a judging session at R’Noggin (Friday night?)
Great Taste 2018 – Dan B will be coordinating. Planning to open to non-members by June 01, and will split tickets/bus, and provide a $10 discount to club members.
From last Month, keeping them here as a reminder….
