Among the home brews shared this meeting: An English Brown Ale with flaked rye and oats and cascade hops, and a a more traditional(?) English Brown Ale (EKG hops). A Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, a couple NE style-ish APAs, a Summer Blond, an Irish Red, a Foreign Extra Stout and Apricot Saison, and a Black Pepper Ale. And the beers were rounded out with a mead, a Zinfandel and a Cabernet. Plus a few interesting commercial beers.
Thanks to all who provided a written description of their beers. I think this worked well in terms of sharing info about the beer, and made my recording job easier, as I just collect the sheets at the end of the meeting. Keeping the paper with the beer seemed to work out, and was simpler than my plan of hang tags and posting the sheets.
If you’d like to share your recipe/process, send the info in an email to the officers or direct to Mike, and he can post it to our web site recipe section.

Milwaukee Bus Tour – Canceled. We did not get enough commitments to proceed.

Future Bulk Honey Buy – Our supplier from Colorado says she can probably reserve some very special varieties and deliver them for Great Taste – so start thinking about types and amounts (and no, Tupelo Honey is not available – that is contracted out and all bought up). Follow the forum for updates.
The Wikipedia entry for Monofloral honey ( https://goo.gl/zaEGf1 ) might provide some ideas for you, they have a long list – Viper’s Bugloss mead anyone?
Brew-Off 2018 – Mike Marr will host us at Buffalo Creek Brewing, Saturday, March 3rd, and we will have a judging session at R’Noggin (Friday night?). Please official register if you can Judge or Steward. Help is needed! And also consider volunteering at one of the other local, upcoming comps – The Mid-Winter, Drunk Monk, Charlie Orr Memorial – your help at those comps will make it easier to attract volunteers for our comps.
EDUCATION TOPICS – YEAST – Bill presented the first in a series of yeast propagation, storage, and quality control. This month was focused on some of the equipment and supplies used. This provides a means to have access to specialty yeasts year-round. Thanks Bill!
Great Taste 2018 – Dan B will be coordinating. Planning to open to non-members by June 01, and will split tickets/bus, and provide a $10 discount to club members.
GABF 2018 – There may be an opportunity to assist with the tear down, which provides the benefit of samples and a free ticket for next year. Co-ordinate to rent a house if enough are interested?
From last Month, keeping them here as a reminder….
